Preparing quinoa is quicker than you thought! Rinse, microwave and enjoy.
Rinse your quinoa. Quinoa grows a bitter, protective coating which can be easily rinsed off. To remove this bitterness rinse quinoa in cold water a few times, till the water stops being foamy. Drain well and add to a microwave safe bowl.
Add double amount of the water in proportion to quinoa in microwave safe bowl. For example, if you use 1 cup of quinoa, you will need to add two cups of water. You can also consider adding vegetable/chicken broth instead of water to enhance the flavouring and make it savoury. The ratio is 1:2.
Cover the cooking bowl with a lid and cook quinoa for 6 minutes on high power, cook mode in your microwave.
Remove and stir. At this point, more than half the water should be absorbed. Place back in the microwave for about 2 more minutes on mid power, cook mode.
Then, let it sit covered for an additional 5-10 minutes, until all of the water is absorbed. Fluff the quinoa and it is now ready to eat!
You can use this quinoa in the recipe of your choice. Alternatively, you can also serve this with a delicious curry.
